Speaker Biographies

 Dr Harriet Pearsey-Alonzi, Client Success Manager at Merck Life Sciences.

I previously completed my PhD at the University of Leicester titled “Investigations into dysglycaemia and ethnic health disparities using MS-based plasma proteomics and targeted assay analysis”. Prior to this position, I completed my BSc Hons at Loughborough University in Human Biology. My six years of laboratory experience includes high skilled use of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays and mass spectrometry analysis, primarily for use in proteomics. Additionally, I have strong knowledge in health, lifestyle, exercise and sport sciences.

Dr Aimee Parsons, Scientific Selling Specialist at Merck Group.

I submitted my PhD studying miRNA biogenesis in 2017 at the University of Nottingham. After this, I moved to the University of Leicester to join the Fennell group as a Research Technician before moving back to the University of Nottingham to start my PhD researching animal-friendly antibodies. I made the move into sales April 2020, and used my strong scientific background to develop into a biology specialist.

Dr Adam Peall, Principal Scientist, Charnwood Molecular.

Principal research scientist with more than 6 years industry experience in developing and running bespoke cellular and biochemical assays to support small molecule drug discovery projects. I am experienced at leading project teams and enjoy finding solutions to problems with a collaborative approach. I welcome new challenges and relish opportunities to increase my own and colleagues’ knowledge and skills.

Lilian Smith, Director, People – Communications and Engagement at Quotient Sciences.

Passionate and driven people leader with extensive experience of colleague engagement and development. Enabling colleagues to thrive, enhancing organisational cultures, ensuring business success.

Dr Andrew Lewis, Senior Vice President Pharmaceutical Development at Quotient Sciences.

I have over 20 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry having worked at small start-ups, mid-size biotech and large pharmaceutical companies, and most recently Quotient Sciences – a Contract Development and Manufacturing organisation.

Dr Lucy Alexander, Head of Business Development, Charnwood Campus.

I am passionate about research translation to real world product and have been delivering research commercialisation for over 25 years. Before joining the Campus, I led the Leicester Life Sciences Accelerator, focused on developing commercialisation of novel medicines and technologies with start-ups and SMEs.

Dr Lynne Howells, Operations Manager, Institute of Precision Health, University of Leicester.

After 15 years of translational science as part of the Cancer Research UK/NIHR Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre Network, I am proud to have expanded my portfolio across the much wider remit of Precision Health. The Institute for Precision Health brings together the research expertise and facilities of the University of Leicester and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust with industry, to advance new medicines and medical technology innovations to impact on healthcare in our diverse society.

Rachael Warner, Co-Founder, Engage and Grow Central Midlands.
